Geraldine N. "Gerry" Carrow of Paonia died April 4, 2017, at Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was 96.
She was born Oct. 11, 1920 in Woodston, Kan., to Fred and Nellie (Chamblin) Shutts.
Mrs. Carrow was a member of the Paonia United Methodist Church and volunteered several years there with the Thrift Shop. She was also active in volunteer work with the Paonia Senior Center during her 30-year residency in Paonia.
She is survived by a son, Stephen (Renee) Carrow of Bonne Terre, Mo.; a daughter, Donna Cordes of Paonia; a brother, William Shutts of Vista, Calif.; grandsons, Jeremy (Gina) Byers of Crystal City, Mo., and Tyler (Sarah) Cordes of Rock Springs, Wyo.; great-grandchildren, Kiffanie (Brandon) Depew, Treston Byers and Kylle Byers; and one great-great-grandchild, Brylee Depew, all of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Buddy" Carrow; a sister, Beulah "Bea" Arnold; and brothers, Floyd Shutts and Robert Shutts.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Paonia United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest, PO Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
