Delta High School has three national qualifiers in speech and debate. The national competition will be held in Birmingham, Ala., this summer. The speech team will be hosting several fundraisers to budget for this once-in-a-lifetime trip. The annual Desserts and Diversions show will be hosted at Delta High School on Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. Tickets are only $5. For that price, you will be entertained, win door prizes and eat unlimited desserts.
The national qualifiers are Hannah Owens, Lydia Stalcup and Anha Richards. Hannah, a senior, qualified to compete in extemporaneous speaking. Lydia Stalcup, also a senior, will compete in world schools debate. This team features the best debaters from the Western Slope. Finally, Anha Richards, a junior, qualified in dramatic interpretation. Earning a spot for nationals is a very competitive endeavor.
