Delta's second annual "Kickoff to Christmas" takes place Saturday, Nov. 25. This event is sponsored by the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce and First Colorado National Bank.

The 2015 softball season got underway for many of the state's prep programs. Cedaredge's Bruins began their season at The Field of Dreams against Meeker last Friday. After a 1-0 start for Meeker, the Bruins put the clamps on and stymied the Cowboys the rest of the way to record an 11-4 victory.
Delta High School hosted its annual Delta Invitational Golf Tournament last Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Devil's Thumb Golf Club. There were nine varsity teams represented with 41 athletes playing. Durango won the team title with a score of 225 with Montrose placing second at 228, and Steamboat Springs finishing its with their 230.
Prep cross-country competition got underway this past weekend. Delta's and Paonia High School's teams chose to attend the Warrior Invitational at Matchett Park on Saturday. Hotchkiss competed in Basalt at the Longhorn Stampede.
The Paonia tennis team served and volleyed in its first matches of the year last Saturday at Apple Valley Park, and the Eagles showed that they are in for a promising season.
One event noticeably absent from Delta's annual cycle of summer activities is a big car parts swap meet.
Last Saturday, that gap in the community events calendar was filled in by a well-attended auto parts swap at Confluence Park.
