Another big Delta County Habitat for Humanity gingerbread decorating event took place at the Civic Center for kids and their families.

The third annual event got a lot of support and volunteer help from members of the Delta County Board of Realtors which had personnel on hand to help with everything from signups to cleanups.

Dozens of entries lighted up like -- well, like a big Christmas parade -- and a crowd of excited people lining Main Street to share the holiday spirit marked a successful Parade of Lights in Cedaredge last Saturday.

The parade entry that best expressed the event's theme of "A Cowboy Christmas" was created by the Best of the West 4-H Club.

A young Surface Creek writer who has had three of her children's books published says she is planning more stories about the exploits of her reptillian protagonist -- her pet, Sepren -- a bearded dragon.

Twelve-year-old Winnie Hirsch has written three adventure stories about the exploits of Sepren.
