The Cedaredge Bruins were on an 11-game winning streak before Paonia's Eagles came to town last Friday evening. The last loss for Cedaredge was at last year's 2A State Tournament in Pueblo when Paonia did the trick.

The Delta County swim team hosted a four-team meet last Friday. The winning team was Durango with 458 points and Delta finished second with a total of 353 points.

PHS claims three titles at Screamin' Eagle meet

Fans of Paonia wrestling were treated to quite a show last Saturday when three hometown grapplers won individual titles at the Screamin' Eagle Tournament.

Hotchkiss won the team title and Paonia finished fourth in the standings, but the Eagles were not disappointed after three of their standouts claimed championships.

PHS matmen enjoy success

The Paonia High School wrestling team completed a very busy week after winning three duals and finishing fourth in the Screamin' Eagle Tournament last Saturday.

The No. 6 Eagles got a good look at every 2A team ahead of them except No. 1 Rocky Ford last week and Paonia has reason to think it'll be right there with them at the end of the year.

Zunich, the owner of Sweet Cheeks Cakery in Delta, teamed up with a cousin to design an entry that won the judges over with its impressive details and "wonderful" hand painting.

At 75 years old, the Cedaredge Rod and Gun Club is a vital, active, and growing organization in Surface Creek Valley.

Since last March, the club has added 50 new members, those attending the club's 75th annual meeting at the Stolte Shed on Jan. 16 were told.
