Bruins earn 1A state football playoff berth

Last Friday night's meeting between Cedaredge and Hotchkiss High Schools on the gridiron ended with a 43-6 win for the visiting Bruins.

Hotchkiss had the advantage passing with a 64-22 yard edge but Cedaredge was superior on the ground with 335 yards to just 87 for the Bulldogs.

The Paonia High School football team is headed to the playoffs for the fourth year in a row and will face a familiar foe when the 1A state tournament kicks off this weekend.

The Eagles beat Grand Valley 42-8 at Paonia Town Park last Friday night, finishing the regular season 8-1.

To say Delta was dominating would be an understatement in a 41-0 football win over Gunnison's Cowboys last Friday night in Gunnison.

Delta raced to a 21-0 lead after the first 12 minutes of play and then coasted the rest of the way in the must win game.
