75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor observed

Delta's Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3571 and Auxiliary conducted a memorial observance on the 75th anniversary of the Dec. 7, 1941, attacks on Pearl Harbor.

The observance was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 7, with a color guard and remarks by VFW District Commander Mike Stahly of Delta, Linda Stahly on behalf of the Auxiliary; and county commissioner Bruce Hovde.

Bruins win Delta mat wars

Another wrestling season is underway and that means another Delta Invitational Wrestling Tournament has taken place. Delta hosted a 12-team tournament last Saturday at Delta High School.

Seven teams posted scores of 100 points or more, with Cedaredge's Bruins claiming the team title with 197 points.

Panthers began hoops play last week

Delta's Panthers took on Hotchkiss Dec. 6 with all four teams recording victories in basketball action. The Panthers' junior varsity girls won 50-18 while the boys junior varsity claimed a 68-24 decision. In varsity play it was 63-43 for the girls from Delta and 72-44 for Delta's boys.

District recognizes teachers, coach, students and drivers

At the December meeting of the Delta County School District, board members and administrators honored several North Fork school teachers and students and others for their outstanding achievements and dedication.

The meeting was held at Paonia High School and began with Dee Holt's mixed choir singing "The Star Spangled Banner."
