Delta 11-4 after trio of wins

A key showdown in 3A WSL baseball was last week's Delta versus Cedaredge baseball game played in Cedaredge. The Panthers (5-0 and 11-4) were on a current winning streak (five games) that stretched to seven after a 19-0 win over Moffat County (3-2 and 5-7) on Saturday.

Delta thinclads show improvement on track

Delta High Schools track teams competed against some 5A to 3A schools at last week's Phil Wertman track meet at Stocker Stadium. The boys team finished sixth in a tough 12-team field. Delta's girls had a good day as well against the big schools and scored 57 points for a seventh-place finish.

Four doubles team leads DHS

Mike Chastain, Delta's head tennis coach, recently spoke about his 2017 edition of Panther tennis.

The Panther tennis team has 32 members, led by seniors Meysa Mulfor, Lizzy Ward, Hannah Branson, Lupita Portillo and Cassidy Parker.

Surface Creek

Dedicated volunteers earn thanks

Helping to fund the Surface Creek Animal Shelter in Cedaredge, Colorado, the Shelter Shoppe, 290 N. Grand Mesa Drive, has been so busy this month that three volunteers have arisen as volunteers of the month.

Alvena Richard, a 10-year resident of Cedaredge, has volunteered at the Shelter Shoppe almost since its beginning citing her love of animals as the reason she continues her tenure at the Shoppe.
