Cemetery regs amended

The City of Delta has amended its cemetery regulations to make maintenance of grass, shrubs and trees around the gravesites easier.

Family members are provided with a copy of the regulations when they purchase a gravesite in the Delta City Cemetery on 3rd Street.

DPD search results in arrests

On May 18, officers of the Delta Police Department, with the assistance from the Delta County Sheriff's Office and Montrose County Sheriff's Office, conducted a search warrant at 960 Crawford Avenue, Delta. The warrant was related to drugs, drug use and possession, drug manufacturing and distribution, firearms, cell phones and any other items which may be illegal, stolen or otherwise implicating in criminal activity.

Fruit crops are hit or miss in Delta County

Colorado's fruit and vegetable industry provides some $300 million to the state's economy, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In Delta County, where more than 1,000 farms produce crops ranging from greenhouse plants to cattle feed, fruit growers have been on high alert this spring, losing sleep, closely monitoring temperatures, and doing all they can to protect their valuable crops.

Governor John Hickenlooper made a brief stop in Delta Saturday afternoon to sign the bill renaming Delta-Montrose Technical College. The new name -- Technical College of the Rockies -- better reflects the broader community served by the technical college, said Michael Klouser, the new director of the technical college.

Paonia moves on in 2A play

Paonia's baseball team remained undefeated last weekend and heads to the fateful semifinal round which kayoed the Eagles title run in 2016 when Limon knocked off Paonia in a late innings rally.

The Eagles won their opening round contest against No. 16 Sargent (11-11 overall and 7-1 in 2A District 1 play) on Saturday morning in Pueblo.

This program is for children ages 4 through entering 6th grade and runs from 8:45 a.m. to noon.
