Bruin boys second at state

This year's Colorado State Track and Field Championships concluded last Saturday with Cedaredge High School's boys track team just short of a third straight team title in the 2A division. Resurrection Christian was the 2018 boys champions with 63 points while the Bruins and Lyons tied for second with 58 points.

Hotchkiss boys fifth at state, four relays place

The Hotchkiss boys had their best showing in recent years at the state track meet, placing in the top five in three events and scoring 43 points to place fifth overall in Class 2A.

The last time the boys did this good was in 2013 when both teams placed third, said head coach Kelly Cowan.

Palmer, 3200 relay team strike gold at state meet

The Paonia girls medaled in 10 events and scored 41 points to place sixth at the Colorado High School Activities Association State Track and Field Meet.

After placing 16th as a freshman, third as a sophomore, and second as a junior, Mckenna Palmer won the triple jump.

Diplomas awarded to 66 Olathe grads

An overflowing stadium, an excited buzz in the air, and blue and gold robes fluttering in the breeze are signs of a traditional Olathe High School graduation. The Class of 2018 walked out onto Wilson Field on Sunday, May 20, greeted by family and friends as the school band played "Pomp and Circumstance" until all the graduates were seated.

Fledgling Eagles urged to take flight during Paonia High School graduation

At Monday night's commencement exercises, 41 eaglets officially left the nest that is Paonia High School. During their four years, the class of 2018 collectively had higher than average SAT scores, participated in all-state choir and band, broke sports records, won numerous titles, built and installed a solar energy system, and won the hearts of their community.
