There is a new crime wave. I just learned about it, and also that I was guilty of being one of those criminals. I feel it is my duty to let you all know too in case you are also guilty like me.
Birdfeeders. I had birdfeeders until yesterdy, and seeds dropped to the ground from them and deer ate those seeds. It is illegal to feed deer. Mr. Andrew Taylor, district wildlife manager of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, doing his duty well, came to my house the other day. He showed me birdseed on the ground below my feeder and told me that I had to take down my birdfeeders or he would give me a citation.
I did enjoy feeding and watching the beautiful local variety of birds, but I didn't realize my birdfeeders were feeding deer and illegal. Now I've taken down my feeders and the ropes and pulleys I used to keep them out of reach. But I wonder about the stores that sell bird seed and feeders. They are aiding and abetting this crime that I was also committing. And also, you too maybe? Are you guilty and have a birdfeeder that perhaps spills bird seed that could be eaten by a deer?
Please take this as a warning that you too could be committing a crime, and that you had better take down any offending birdfeeders.
