The long lost artesian well that slumbered north of Cedaredge might have been a welcome source of extra water during the region's current drought. Hoping for the best, the town had the well tested for flow strength on Monday, July 16.
"Unfortunately," wrote town administrator Greg Brinck in his July 19 report to the town board of trustees, "It was only capable of pumping around 40 gpm (gallons per minute), much less than the 200 gpm we were hoping for."
Brinck concluded that the well may yet be a viable option for future development and staff will continue to discuss the possibility.
