Local artists have teamed up to create a stained glass panel for the new Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center (GMAEC) in Cedaredge. The group meets regularly at the Splinters & Shards studio in Delta to assemble the large panel.
Time, materials and tools are all donated. The completed panel will feature images of Grand Mesa, lakes, streams, canyons, columbines, aspens, and, of course, a gorgeous Colorado sky. The colorful creation will be installed in time for GMAEC's opening day in June 2018.
To support the arts center the public can send contributions to GMAEC, PO Box 583, Cedaredge, CO 81413.
Community members are also invited to take part in the nonprofit organization's fundraising events. Tickets are still available for "A Sweet Art Evening" scheduled for 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the AppleShed, 250 South Grand Mesa Drive, Cedaredge. Tickets for the Valentine's Day event can be purchased in Cedaredge at Starr's Guitars or Reve Portraits.
A future fundraiser, the Cabin Fever Dance, is scheduled for March 10.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
