The Bulldog Booster Club will sell Mountain Fresh Sweet Corn this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10-11, in Hotchkiss.
Mountain Fresh owner Mike Ahlberg is donating the corn, which he and sons Seth and Zach have grown since 2000. Seth and Zach played sports at Delta High School with Hotchkiss teachers/coaches Curtis Hintz and Richard Flores. Over the years, said Ahlberg, he has donated corn to benefit numerous fundraisers for DHS sports teams. Mountain Fresh also donates product to help cover shipping costs for Montrose-based Operation Sweet Tooth, which since 2003 has sent care packages to service men and women across the globe as a morale booster.
Hotchkiss High School student-athletes will pick the corn this Friday morning and begin selling it Friday afternoon. Booths will be set up at both entrances to the Delta County Fairgrounds (387 E. Bridge Street, and the intersection of Highway 92 and Doc Maloney Way).
Sales will continue on Saturday morning and last until the last ears are sold.
All proceeds will go to the Bulldog Booster Club for scholarships, purchase of athletic uniforms, and other support for HHS students.
