The Hotchkiss Bulldogs increased their winning streak to four games last week and upped their conference record to 6-1 with wins over Hayden and Soroco. Both games were played in Hotchkiss.
In Friday's 65-44 win over Hayden (1-12, 0-7), four Bulldogs scored in double digits, led by Ely Sawatzky with 14 points. Point guard Sam Rodriguez ended the game with 11 points. Braxton Trujillo scored 11, and Eli Kirk scored 10.
In a fast-paced game that saw both teams take several trips to the line, Hotchkiss scored on 16 of 24 free throws, with Rodriguez shooting seven-of-eight from the line.
In Saturday's 66-39 win over Soroco, the visiting Rams were held to two first quarter points.
The Bulldogs scored 18 points in each of the first three quarters. Eli Patrick started the game with eight first-quarter points. Jacob Stucker scored six of his 13 points in the third quarter and was three-for-six from the line.
The Bulldogs are now 10-4 overall and 6-1 and in third place in conference standings. They travel to No. 1 Rangely Friday and host No. 2 Meeker Saturday.
