Charles Robert "Bob" Hicks, 65, a husband, brother, father, grandfather, and dear friend, passed away Jan. 12, 2018, at Hemet Valley Medical Center. Bob was born July 19, 1952, in Delta Colo., the son of Jack Hicks and the late Charlie Lea Hillis Hicks. While a Colorado coal miner at heart, 26 years, Bob completed his education and moved to California to pursue a career as a Home Appraiser. An avid baseball enthusiast, Bob enjoyed watching, playing and officiating the game. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, home improvement projects, football, fly-fishing, and hunting. He loved giving back to the youth of community and felt rewarded when he rode with the Patriot Guard Riders to honor our fallen soldiers.
On St. Patrick's Day of 2006, Bob went on his first date with the love of his life, Sylvia. They married shortly after and have enjoyed the life they have created for themselves in sunny California. Surviving is his wife, Sylvia Hicks; father, Jack Hicks; mother-in-law, Lawrencia Marquez; children, Shelly Wright, Robert Hicks, Dawn Bivens, and Kimberly Kellerby (Troy); stepsons, Aaron Waterman and Kyle Waterman (Noelle); brothers, Greg Hicks (Glenda), Paul Hicks (Melinda) and Benjamin Marquez (Lori); sisters, Roxie Hodson, Cindy Shields (Joe) and Elisa Benefield (Jeff); eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Charlie Lea Hicks and father-in-law, Ralph Marquez.
The scattering of his ashes in Colorado on the Grand Mesa will be planned for this summer 2018. Online condolences may be made to Miller-Jones.com.
