Changes will create better and safer access to Cedaredge High School. According to Kurt Clay, assistant superintendent for public relations at Delta County School District 50J, construction is well underway on a new entryway for CHS. The present road, shown on the right, leads to the school which is visible in the far right background. The road grader at left is leveling the new surface. The goal is to move the entry road further west to create a safer environment for students and to make better use of school property. The present road runs close to school sidewalks and cuts through school property creating essentially unusable islands of ground. In addition to the new road, the school parking lot will also be redone.
Over the last two years, all other high schools in the district have undergone similar renovations. When CHS is completed, all district high school entryways and parking lots will have been improved.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
