After opening with a solid softball victory in Aspen the previous week, Cedaredge's Bruins found Faith Christian's Eagles a bit more scrappy in an 11-3 loss in Gunnison last Saturday.

The Bruins trailed 9-0 after just two innings of play and were searching for their offense throughout the contest.

Defensively Cedaredge was able to stop the Eagle's offensive thrust the rest of the way and allowed just two more runs.

Meeker is shown atop the leaderboard in 3A District 5 play with the Bruins second and Delta third in early season action.

The Bruins played a doubleheader against Basalt on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will host Aspen in a rematch on Thursday, Sept. 7. Varsity action begins at 4 p.m. and junior varsity play follows.

Cedaredge will conclude the week's schedule with tournament play in Berthoud Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8 and 9.

Next week's play begins with Meeker coming to town on Tuesday, Sept. 12 for varsity action at 4 p.m. and junior varsity action at 6 p.m.
