The Crawford Area Chamber of Commerce is urging area residents to attend a meeting on Friday, Feb. 9, hosted by Delta Montrose Electric Association and Elevate Fiber at Diamond Joe's from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The meeting is an opportunity to preregister for internet service through Elevate. Because DMEA divides its territory into zones based on power lines, and Elevate places its fiber along these paths, Crawford is divided into three service zones. Each zone has specific preregistration goals, or the number of people signing up before Elevate will build out its network.
In Crawford 56, they need an additional 28 preregistrations; in Crawford 57 they need 256 more preregistrations; and in Crawford 58 they need 193 more preregistrations.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
