Darla Lee Dick died Jan. 2, 2018, in New Orleans, La. She was 72.
Darla Lee Mills was born on Rogers Mesa March 25, 1945, to Parks and Lola (Sparks) Mills. She attended school in Hotchkiss and graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1963.
On July 25, 1970, she married Frank Dick in Delta. He was a career U.S. Coast Guard sailor and served in many Coast Guard stations in the U.S. and Guam. Their last duty station was in the New Orleans, La., area. They retired in Patterson, La.
She is survived by stepsons, Bob Dick of California and Michael Dick of Alexandria, Va.; eight stepgrandchildren; a sister, Lorena Henrie of Eckert; a brother, Ronald Mills of Delta; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 2002; and three siblings, Yola, Garland and Loretta.
Services will be held at a later date.
Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
