Lifetime Delta resident Don B. Howard died Dec. 24, 2017, at his home. He was 71.
A graveside service was held Dec. 28 at the Delta City Cemetery.
He was born May 18, 1946, to Billy and Marilyn (Miller) Howard in Delta. He spent his childhood and attended school in Delta, graduating from Delta High School in 1964. He earned a bachelor's degree in biological science from Colorado State University. He worked for the Forest Service building trails in western Colorado during the summers while he was in college.
On Sept. 14, 1984, he married Judy DeLisle in Grand Junction.
Mr. Howard worked as a chemist for Skyland Foods and Holly Sugar; he was also a grounds-keeper for Delta City Cemetery.
He was a member of the Delta Elks Lodge. He enjoyed researching genealogy and attending his children's sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Judy Howard; sons, Cully Howard and Hank Howard; daughter, Hannah Howard; brothers, Dave Howard and Bob Howard; and two sisters, Becky Vezakis and Linda Howard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

At their March 5 meeting Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes made two appointments to the county planning commission. Steve Shea was reappointed for a three-year term.
