Former Delta resident Doris Edelen died March 6, 2017, at Crossroads Adult Care Home in Tucson, Ariz. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with Pastor Veronica Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mesa View Cemetery in Delta with Pastor Buddy Bishop presiding.
Mrs. Edelen was born on March 18, 1933, to Harold and Fern (Shipley) Hennigh in Longmont. She spent her childhood in Longmont and graduated from Longmont High School in 1951.
After graduation, she earned her LPN from Poudre Valley School of Nursing in Fort Collins.
On July 10, 1975, she married Thomas Edelen in Carson City, Nev. They moved to Delta in 1990.
Mrs. Edelen was a member of First Assembly of God in Delta and volunteered at the Pregnancy Resource Center. She enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Macoubrie of Longmont; daughter, Laurie (Eddie) Schumacher of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Jamie (Bryan) Glover of Highlands Ranch and Connor Schumacher of Rotterdam, Holland; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; and her brother, Tom Hennigh.

Two accidents involving school property are proving costly for Delta County Joint School District, district business manager Jim Ventrello reported last week. Both incidents involved uninsured drivers, forcing the school district to file claims with its insurance provider and pay deductibles of $10,000.
