Hotchkiss resident, Edwin "Steve" Croker, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at his home in Hotchkiss, Colo. Steve was 75 years old.

Edwin Stephen Croker was born April 5, 1943, to Edwin T. and Mildred H. (Freiling) Croker in Multnomah County, Ore. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Delta, Colo., graduating from Delta High School in 1961. After high school Steve worked for a few years before joining the United States Air Force where he served as a flight engineer during the Vietnam War.
On April 1, 1989, Steve married his high school sweetheart, Mary Patricia Wood in Denver, Colo.
Steve was a jack of all trades who enjoyed building birdhouses, fishing, hunting, camping, classic country, westerns, and was known to be a dog whisperer.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Conya Hoedel (Gary) of Johnstown, Colo., Kristina Savoy (Fred) of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Roger Croker of Grand Junction, Colo., and Lynn Croker of Montrose, Colo.; sister, Lynnda "Jody" Sorenson of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren, Cody and Amanda Echols of Johnstown, Colo.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and his brother Larry.

Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
