The Friends and Flowers Garden Club was founded in 1964. It meets monthly on the third Friday, at 1:30 p.m. at various member's homes or carpools for special outings.
These outings have included going to Grand Mesa to see the wild flowers or touring local wineries. There are a variety of program at the meetings. The members enjoyed a special program by Chris Van Verth at the last meeting. She gave a program on antique marbles, several of which were more than 100 years old.
Club members also enjoy an annual picnic during the summer, a harvest dinner in November and a Christmas luncheon in December.
Members always enjoy sharing thoughts and ideas regarding flowers, trees and shrubs and how to care for them. The club is now in the process of sponsoring one of its members to become a Master Gardener. The club also has members who volunteer with a small garden at Horizons Care Center in Eckert during the summer months.
"Please come and visit with us at one of our meetings," said Marsha Thomas. "We have a good time and are also a huge support group for each other."
