Longtime Paonia resident Helen Morgan died Oct. 6, 2017. She was 98.
At her request, no services will be held.
She was born in Gary, Ind., to Michael and Maria "Busha" Dubowski on Feb. 3, 1919.
She served in the U.S. Army where she met her husband, William "Bill" Morgan. They were married in New York and moved to Somerset in 1945.
Mrs. Morgan enjoyed cooking, sewing, spending time with family and friends, and fellowship at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons, Tom (Terry) Morgan and Bob (Patricia) Morgan; daughter, Rhoda; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Morgan; brothers, Father George and Joe; and sisters, Ann Maria and Lillian.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
