Hotchkiss, Colo., resident Howard R. Brooks passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2018, at his residence. He was 86 years of age.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m. at 35503 Hwy. 133, Hotchkiss. Feel free to bring a finger food.
Howard Robert was born on April 24, 1932, to Anne M. (Bingle) and Howard Rankin Brooks in Farmington, N.M. Bob graduated from Brighton High School.
On Feb. 3, 1960, Bob married the love of his life, Genevieve J. Kahler, in Castle Rock, Colo. To this union, three children were born. Bob and Genevieve moved to Hotchkiss in 1966. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before Genevieve's passing in 2006.
Bob worked at Musgrave's as the auto-body manager from 1969 until his retirement. He also enjoyed gardening, prospecting, his chickens and watching hummingbirds. He was always playing practical jokes on his friends and family.
Bob is survived by his three children: son, Dale (Cheryl) Brooks of Hotchkiss; daughter, Bobbie Jean (Terry) Neff of Grand Junction, Colo.; and son, David Brooks of Hotchkiss; four granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Anne Brooks; his wife, Genevieve Brooks; three sisters and one brother.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
