Farmer and former Delta County assessor Howard U. Tidwell died Friday, July 27, 2018, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 84.
A celebration of life was held Aug. 4 at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Mr. Tidwell was born July 15, 1934, in Monroe, La., to Howard and Mary (Phillips) Tidwell. He spent most of his childhood in Louisiana and graduated from Waxahachie (Texas) High School in 1950.
On Dec. 21, 1952, he married Betty Lou Chilcoat in Tolleson, Ariz. They moved to Glendale, Ariz., where they resided until August 1966 when they moved to Delta.
Mr. Tidwell as a member of the Delta First Assembly of God. He enjoyed tinkering on tractors, restoring old vehicles and livestock.
He is survived by three daughters, Vickie (Don) Owen, Rose (Wayne) Eklund and Susan (Gary) Clum; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Beckie (James) Robertson and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty Lou Tidwell.
