Tis the season to give, and tis the season to shop locally! When you shop locally, not only are you helping your friends and neighbors stay in business, you are strengthening your community.
This year, thanks to the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Delta, you can also get cash just by shopping at Delta area merchants.
The chamber will launch its secret shopper campaign on National Small Business Saturday, which is Nov. 24. Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Small Business Saturday, a nationwide movement to get holiday shoppers into their local venues and support small business. Last year in the U.S. nearly 1 million people shopped at small businesses.
Secret shoppers will be out and about on Saturday and want to give away $500 to be spent in local businesses. If you aren't shopping locally, you will miss out!
Secret shoppers will give away a total of $1,800 between Nov. 24 and Dec. 23 to those patronizing Delta area retail stores, restaurants, hair salons and other small businesses. Shoppers will get to choose an envelope with a mystery amount of cash in it, to be spent at the store they're found in. Increments range from $5-$20. Your chances of winning will increase if you are wearing an "I Shop Delta" button, which are free at the Chamber office at 301 Main Street.
While you are out shopping, stop by the chamber office. A beautiful Christmas tree is decorated with ornaments provided by area businesses. The chamber is also a drop spot for a coat drive, and a site for the Christmas Angel Giving Tree. Stop by and sponsor a needy family for the holiday season, and help your local community by keeping your dollars here in Delta.
