A total of 176 market animals and pens were offered for sale by 4-H and FFA members at the 2013 Junior Market Livestock Sale, held Saturday, Aug. 10, at the county fair.
The sale, totaling $256,250, included $106,550 for 35 beef animals, averaging $3,044.29 per head; $2,800 for 10 chicken pens, averaging $280 per pen; $26,175 for 31 goats, averaging $844.36 per head; $27,650 for 25 lambs, averaging $1,106.00 per head; $650 for two rabbit pens, averaging $325 per pen; $90,850 for 67 swine, averaging $1,355.97 per head; and $1,575 for six pens of turkeys, averaging $262.50 per pen.
The Delta County 4-H and FFA members again thank all the supporters of the Junior Market Livestock Sale.
Last year a total of 203 market animals were sold, with beef averaging $2,537.84 per head, chickens averaging $384.38 per pen, goats averaging $625.78 per head, lambs averaging $775.07 per head, turkeys averaging $503.57 per head and swine averaging $1,075.75 per head.
