The regular business meeting of Delta Emblem Club #462 was opened in ritual form at 7 p.m. at the Delta Elks Lodge June 24. The meeting was called to order by president Marie Stucker.
Recording secretary Carol Brandt called the roll of officers and past presidents. All were present. The minutes of the May meeting were approved as mailed.
Financial secretary Mary Jo Chaffee and treasurer Kay Thatcher gave their reports. Corresponding secretary Diane Martinez read the communications and the bills, which included items for Dora's installation, books, bingo, postage, state convention and for Dora's reception at state convention. A motion to pay the bills passed.
Tina Shiflett reported the Sunshine Committee sent a "thinking of you" card to Kennadine Duncan. Mary Jo Chaffee, Americanism Committee, read "Just Say," a story about a Marine staying with a father who was dying. The bingo committee reported the receipts for four weeks. For community service, Kay Thatcher reported 117 card fronts, 1,200 cancelled stamps, seven box tops, 119 labels, one small bag of tabs and 159 miles. Membership reported two applications are waiting for Elk sponsors. The drug awareness, literacy, scholarship and ways and means committees did not have reports.
A recess was taken at which time money was collected for the scholarship fund. Diane Martinez won the door prize and donated it to the scholarship fund.
Under new business, Barbara Pierce gave an account of the state convention. Barbara also told about participating in Durango Emblem Club's installation. Dora thanked everyone for their help in getting her to the office of Emblem Club State Association president.
There being no further business, president Marie Stucker closed the meeting in ritual form at 8 p.m.
