Members of Lee Marts VFW Post 3571 and their Ladies Auxiliary attended a dinner at VFW Post 1247 in Grand Junction where the visiting Ladies Auxiliary national president spoke, stating her views on veterans' issues and encouraging both VFW post and auxiliary members to do their best to assist all veterans and their families.
Sissy Borel, national Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary president, recently visited several towns and sites on the Western Slope during her official visit to the State of Colorado.
Borel, who proudly calls southwestern Louisiana home, was elected national president at the 100th convention of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary held in Louisville, Ky., in July 2013. This year, for the first time, the official visit to Colorado was to the Western Slope, not the Front Range. Linda Stahly, Colorado state president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, lives in Delta and was born and raised in Gunnison. Sissy graciously accepted Linda's invitation to visit the "true" colorful Colorado and experience the veterans and other wonderful residents of the Western Slope.
During her three-day visit, Sissy toured the Grand Junction VA Hospital, the Rifle State Veterans Nursing Home, the state veterans cemetery in Grand Junction, and visited both the American Service Women's Memorial in Collbran and the Vietnam Memorial in Fruita.blog comments powered by Disqus
