The Hotchkiss High School FFA honored the achievements of its members this year during its annual banquet. Earning their FFA Chapter Degrees (above) are: back row — Mitch McCurdy, Evan Welt and Kaleb Bayles; middle row — Becca Pachl, Kaden Milstein and Brandon Beck; front row — Mackenzie Katzdorn, Tiffany Clock, Tyrell Clock, Hayley Lofley and Kayla Milstein. Olathe FFA competes at state competition

Prairie Rangers have 4-H spirit

The Prairie Rangers 4-H Club members, based in the Austin area, are excited about the new 4-H year and are busy with their projects. The club was the top seller of 4-H Beef Roast tickets this year as a group, and two members were the top individual sellers. The group meets the second Sunday of the month at a member’s home. VFW honors ‘hometown heroes’

Also honored but not pictured are Ben Martinez, who accepted the honor on behalf of the entire Delta Volunteer Fire Department, and Trooper Todd Martin, Colorado State Patrol.Every year for 31 years, since the work of organizing the event was taken up by the late Ina Mick, members of Delta's Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary #3571 have held a banquet in honor of "hometown heroes."

The event is held in association with the national VFW organization which, since 1921, has designated it as Loyalty Day.

Literary club continues tradition of Senior Tea

c02 teaPhoto by Verna Barr Cedaredge High School senior girls assembled packets of Literary Soup following a tea given by the Cedaredge Women’s Literary Club. The packets will be sold at AppleFest in October with proceeds to benefit the Cedaredge Public Library.A custom that began 62 years ago was held April 24 as the Cedaredge Women's Literary Club honored Cedaredge High School senior girls with an afternoon tea. Other honored guests were Cedaredge Mayor Pat Means, speaker Verity Martin and the oldest member of the literary club, Grace Farmer.
