Evelyn Lund

a10 lundEvelyn Olive Lund died Jan. 24, 2013. She was 95.

She was a resident of Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center for several years prior to her death.

She was born June 5, 1917, to Edward and Eva (Hinton) Bates near Crawford. She graduated from Crawford High School in 1936.

She married Merle Lund Nov. 26, 1936. The couple moved to Paonia in 1949 where they were fruit farmers for many years. Mrs. Lund was the secretary of Lund Brothers Fruit Company.

The Lunds enjoyed rock hunting and exhibiting at numerous rock and mineral shows. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1986.

Mrs. Lund was a member of the First Christian Church in Paonia where she taught Sunday school and served as president, secretary and treasurer of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the Paonia Garden Club and enjoyed working in her rose garden. She served as secretary of the Paonia Senior Citizens organization for three years.

She is survived by her son, George Lund and his wife Patricia of Paonia; her daughter, Sharon Howard and her husband Dave of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Michaele Scofield and her husband Casey, Eric Lund and his wife Cassie, Ted Lund, Cassandra Osborne and her husband Kyle, Erica Biehl and her husband Elijah, and Bryan Howard and his wife Beth; seven great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Lillian Scofield, Isaiah and Chloe Lund, Sean Osborne, Madelyn Howard and Gunner Lund.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Inurnment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
