Former Gunnison resident Donna Chapman died April 5, 2013, at her niece's residence in Olathe. She was 74.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, at the Gunnison Cemetery.
Donna R. Smith was born in Gunnison March 20, 1939, to Arthur and Mae (Reid) Smith. She spent her childhood and attended public school in Gunnison.
She married Lyle Chapman. They lived in Helena, Mont., for several years before moving to Grand Junction 15 years ago.
Mrs. Chapman was a wife, sister and aunt. She was an Avon representative for several years and enjoyed animals, reading, playing board games, tending her gardens and collecting rocks.
She is survived by two nephews, John Brown of Anchorage, Alaska, and Terry Brown of Fruita; six nieces, Elaine Smith of Oklahoma, Cheryl Harris of Florida, Judy Williams of Olathe, Janet Hampton of Shoshone, Idaho, Julie Jenkins of Lodgepole, Neb., and Glenda Gallegos of Delta; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Chapman; two sisters, Mona Krieger and Shirley Gallegos; and one brother, Jack Smith.
Arrangements are being handled by Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
