Juanita Thompson died July 5, 2013, at her home in Delta. She was 84.
Funeral services were held July 9 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Interment followed in Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.
Juanita Lorene Baldwin was born in Stillwater, Okla., Oct. 2, 1928, to Jess and Mabel (Leffel) Baldwin. The family lived in Apache Junction, Ariz., and Summit Point.
On Dec. 31, 1954, she married Royal "Tom" Thompson in Aztec, N.M. They lived in several places including Cortez, Phoenix, Ariz., and Montrose. They lived in Delta 25 years.
Mrs. Thompson was a foster parent for many years. She was a member of Maranatha Fellowship in Delta. She enjoyed her family, rodeos, cooking and raising horses.
She is survived by her husband, R.V. Thompson; her children, Luke Gerstner and wife Donna, and Chandra Thompson, all of Delta, Robert Allen of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Diane Thompson of Montrose; a brother, Buck Baldwin of Gilbert, Ariz.; six sisters, Esther Neff of Camarillo, Calif., Ethel Taylor of Montrose, Verna Martin of Cortez, Glenda Pilgrim and Joan Browning, both of Chickasha, Okla., and Beverly Baldwin of Delta; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
