Betty Olive Ashby died July 18, 2013. She was 70.
She was born in Olathe Jan. 15, 1943, to Harvey and Edna Byers.
At the age of 14 she contracted polio and learned to walk again with the help of her younger sisters.
She married Doyle Ashby Oct. 18, 1963.
She enjoyed going on adventures and being a caregiver, mother, grandmother and advisor. She was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn.
Mrs. Ashby is survived by two sons, Tom Ashby and wife Vanessa of Atoka, Okla., and Russ Ashby of Grand Junction; one daughter, Ginger Chambers and husband Danny of Yukon, Okla.; a brother-in-law, Forrest Neely of Cortez; two sisters-in-law, Bess Byers of Olathe and Beverly Peterson and husband Marvin of Palisade; three sisters, Patty Arnold and husband Bob of Slaughterville, Okla., Sheryl Retherford and husband Jody of Vinco, Okla., and Wanda Gibson and husband Greg of Delta; lifetime friend, Twila (Boyd) Gourley of Delta; and many other close friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Ashby; a son-in-law, Terry Byers; an infant grandson, Bailey Ashby; a sister, Mary Neely; and a brother, Lester "Bud" Byers.
Funeral services were held July 22 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Delta. Interment followed at Pea Green Cemetery.
