Walter Byron Head died Sept. 9, 2013, at the age of 49.
Viewing will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service in Delta.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Crawford.
Mr. Head was born in Craig Dec. 28, 1963, to Larry and Ruth Head. He attended school in Montrose, Clifton and Fruita, and graduated from Palisade High School in 1983. He attended DIT in Denver and graduated as a certified auto and diesel mechanic. He apprenticed at Rider Trucking Company, where he worked on 18-wheelers. While enrolled at DIT, he experienced the first of many symptoms of multiple sclerosis that began his 30-year battle with the disease.
In 1988, he married Jennifer Jo Taylor in Clifton.
He is survived by three children, David Head and wife Cari of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Nathan Head and wife Nikki of Blacktown, Iowa, and Nikki Baker and husband Jason of Eagleville, Mo.; his parents, Larry and Ruth Head of Hotchkiss; two brothers and their wives, Wayne and Jamie Head of Delta and Lorin and Lytia Head of Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Cheyenne and Montana Baker and Hunter Head; and nine nephews and nieces, Daniel, Levi and Matt Head; Anika, Janae, Zoey, Zack, Benjamin and Wiliam Head.
