Robert James Tidwell died Oct. 28, 2013, at his home in Cedaredge. He was 80.
Funeral services were held Nov. 1 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating. Interment followed at Eckert Cemetery.
Mr. Tidwell was born in Longmont April 1, 1933, to Roy and Mildred (Flynn) Tidwell. He spent his childhood in Longmont, graduating from Longmont High School.
On July 9, 1951, he married Virginia Albert in Glen Elder, Kan. They moved to Cedaredge from Hayden 13 years ago.
He received a bachelor of science degree in education from Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Mo., and a master's degree in education from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa fraternity and the First Christian Church Association.
Mr. Tidwell enjoyed livestock, animals and collecting antiques. His joy was a 1917 steam engine.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Tidwell of Cedaredge; two daughters, Marcia Tidwell of Laramie, Wyo., and Sharon Tidwell of Delta; three sons, Steven Tidwell of Bailey, Mark Tidwell of Cedaredge and Allan (Karen) Tidwell of Turbotville, Pa.; one sister, Sylvia Hooper of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister-in-law, Leona Tidwell of Oregon; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Tidwell Jr.
