Two years ago, a Community Revitalization Partnership Program was established to evaluate, plan and implement programs to enhance downtown. The effort lost steam when the group ran into issues funding the proposed projects.
With the anticipated opening this spring of the alternative truck route, many businesses along Main Street have questioned how downtown will weather the change. Representatives from the original Community Revitalization Partnership Program, the City of Delta and the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce are bringing the conversation back to the table, to see how the community can work together to enhance and invigorate Main Street.
Two meetings are planned to gather input from businesses. Solutions may include a special taxing district, sales tax or other means of generating revenue. If you are a business owner or manager, please plan to attend one of these meetings: Tuesday, Nov. 5, 7 a.m., or Wednesday, Nov. 6, 6 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Bill Heddles Recreation Center conference room. Light refreshments will be provided.
