Lighting on Oak Mesa explained

Lights that can be seen on Oak Mesa are associated with Oxbow Mining's exploration activity there, a company spokesman says.

Oxbow Mining received approval to begin its exploration drilling on Nov. 2.

The exploration drilling is proceeding 24 hours per day with a ten-hours-on and four-hours-off schedule and is planned to continue through the winter months.

Lighting of the work area is required to provide a safe work environment; however, all efforts will be made to direct the lighting away from the valley and the neighboring mesas.
