Over the years the Kathleen Wheeler Room at Memorial Hall in Hotchkiss has seen a lot of use. It was time for it to be refreshed and made new.
That's exactly what the Beta Sigma Phi Beta Mu Sorority did.
The sorority members, with the help of their husbands, painted the room, stripped two layers of carpet and glue from the floor and refinished the wood floor, created floral valances for the windows, moved a large cabinet which made the entire room seem larger and just made the room much more inviting.
Nancy Stevens of the Memorial Hall board said, "It was a major labor of love."
The only thing left is to hang pictures and quotes from Kathleen Wheeler, who was instrumental in getting the hall originally built. Some of the sorority members had Wheeler as a teacher in high school.
The refurbishing took four weeks to complete. Cynda Clay was chairman of the project.
The sorority's popular house tour funded the remodel and the scholarships they give away each year to graduates.blog comments powered by Disqus
