According to Barbara Peterson, Paonia town clerk, Regna Jones is signing a six-month lease for the Paradise Theatre with a six-month renewal option. The current lease is up at the end of June.
The Paradise Theatre was on the agenda for the June 11 Paonia Town Council meeting to renew the theater's tavern license. The council unanimously approved the liquor license renewal pending a new signed lease from Jones.
A team has been assembled to handle management of the theater. The theater team includes Amy DeLuca as the artistic director. Friends of the Paradise is an advisory group to help with the transition, Peterson said.
The council members were told everything is being done to keep the theater open until a new buyer can be found.
The Slow Food signature event, The Food, Farm and Film Festival, will be held at the Paradise Theatre in August.
The Mountain Harvest Festival utilizes the theater for its night of concerts in September.
The Paonia Players have staged all of their plays at the theater.
Jones has an annual fashion show that has become a popular two-night event.
The Paonia Film Festival is held at the theater.
