Members of the Hotchkiss Town Council are reviewing the preliminary budget for next year as prepared by Marlene Searle, town clerk, and with proposals by town staff from public works and law enforcement.
This is the first look at the budget and changes are expected before the final budget is voted on in December.
New revenue for the 2014 General Fund is projected to be at $716,494. That would mean a total available revenue of $1,956,372. Revenue is estimated to be $764,716 and totaling $2,026,046 in 2013.
General Fund office expenses are being budgeted at $263,518 for 2014. They were budgeted at $231,198 for 2013 with expenses now estimated at $213,447.
The Marshal's Office is projecting $285,752 in 2014 compared to $234,265 budgeted for 2013. The 2013 expenses are now estimated to be $227,007.
Public works is budgeting for $336,236 in 2014 expenses versus $321,102 budgeted expenses in 2013, which are now estimated for 2013 at $345,714.
Water Fund revenues are budgeted at $798,431 for 2014. The 2013 budget projected $1,157,628 in 2013 revenues, which are now estimated at $657,236.
Expenses for the Water Fund in 2014 are projected to be $443,468. The 2013 budget for expenses was $1,002,420, with the estimated 2013 budget amount at $805,976.
The Sanitation Fund revenues are projected to be $211,150 in 2014 and estimated for $212,800 in 2013.
Expenses for the Sanitation Fund are projected to be $246,025 compared with an estimated $224,311 in 2013.
The Garbage Fund revenues are being projected for 2014 at $100,000 with 2013 revenues estimated at $102,000.
Garbage Fund expenses are projected to be $98,000 for 2014 which matches the estimated amount for 2013.
Revenues and expenses for the Conservation Trust Fund for 2014 match at $10,585.
Revenues for the Capital Improvements Fund are projected for 2014 at $552,500 and expenses at $672,000, leaving an ending fund balance projected at $113,221.
There will be a preliminary budget work session on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Once again the council will discuss whether to add the salary for a shared employee between the public works and Marshal's office. Last year it was decided the funds were not available.blog comments powered by Disqus
