The Blue Sage Center for the Arts in Paonia held its 2013 Gingerbread Festival House Building Competition on Saturday, Dec. 14. In addition to the official entries, many kids made their own gingerbread houses to take home for the holidays.
Three anonymous judges checked each of the official entries for the following criteria—overall appearance, originality/creativity, difficulty, precision and consistency of theme.
The first-place winners were:
Team or family — McBinohalekincritchiteberg with their entry "Castle de Happy Fun-Fun;"
Adult — Christel Pretorius with her entry "Christmas at Atlantis Sunken City;"
Child — Ryan Gladbach with his entry "Log Cabin."
Each winner received a $25 cash prize and an ornament.
The winning entries and all the other entries will be on display through Jan. 10 at the following businesses on Grand Avenue — First State Bank of Colorado, North Fork Bank, Homestead Market, Flying Fork Café, KVNF, Dependable Lumber and Heart of the Dragon. A walking tour of the houses has been put together, and maps are available by the display at each business.
Additionally, children aged 18 and under can win four tickets to a 2014 Blue Sage Classical Music Series concert by matching up all the businesses with the entry on display there, and discovering what goods or services that business provides.blog comments powered by Disqus
