Paonia High School is celebrating homecoming this whole week. The theme is "Time Travels."
With Labor Day on Monday, activities began on Tuesday, Sept. 3, when the students dressed for Gender Swap Day. The Eagles volleyball team played Delta, followed by the showing of "Back To The Future" in the commons.
Wednesday is Disney Day as students dress to salute their favorite Disney characters. Girls will play "Capture the Flag" at Paonia Town Park at 7 p.m.
Thursday is Co-ed Twin Day. The senior barbecue will take place in the commons from 5-6 p.m. Boys Peach Fuzz volleyball is at 6 p.m. followed by the Car Push in the parking lot. The night will be lit up by the traditional bonfire.
Friday is Red and Black Day. The Homecoming Parade will take place at 1 p.m. downtown. Stan and Jaylene Park are the grand marshals. Jaylene Park is a 1977 PHS graduate.
Volleyball with Grand Valley takes place at 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. The football game with Grand Valley starts at 7:30 p.m.
During half-time the homecoming royalty will be crowned. Laura Clock, who graduated in 1932, will be recognized as distinguished alumni. Clock is celebrating her 101st birthday this week.
On Saturday, the cross country team meets Battle Mountain. Volleyball at Plateau Valley will be played at 11, 12 and 1 p.m. That night, the homecoming dance will be held from 8:30 - 11:30 p.m.blog comments powered by Disqus
