BB tournament was a pleasure
Dear Editor:
I offer my congratulations and thanks to all involved in bringing about the seventh/eighth grade basketball tournament which was held at Paonia Junior/Senior High School. It was such a pleasure to watch all the players as they demonstrated the skills they are developing.
And, except for the two ungentlemen who found it necessary to loudly criticize the performance of their sons and others, the large crowd demonstrated that they understood that the responsibility of fans at such events is to offer positive encouragement and to celebrate the efforts of the young folks who have worked so hard this fall to become accomplished teams.
Again, thanks to all the volunteers, coaches, and players for providing such an enjoyable day. It was especially gratifying to be able to spend the day watching some of the children of Delta County engaged in healthy fun as my mind was distracted by the fulminating horror that is transpiring in Connecticut, the place where I passed through in my youth and learned the joy of sports.
