Fr. Albeiro Herrera-Ciro arrived in Delta on July 1 of this year to serve as the priest at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta and its mission church St. Phillip's in Cedaredge. He's trying to help Delta and Cedaredge come together and feel as one church.
He wants to encourage more combined gatherings and special events.
Fr. Alferio said, "I find my work here to be very fruitful and fulfilling."
Fr. Albeiro has been an ordained priest for over five years. He received his higher education at the Pontifical Bolivariana University and St. Peter Seminary before coming home to the United States. This included three years of philosophy, one year of pastorial care, and four years of theology. He has also received continuing education in the United States.
He was born in Columbia, South America, in 1961. He went to Boise, Idaho, by invitation in 2004. He was ordained by the Diocese of Pueblo in 2008. Prior to his move here he served as Vicar at St. Joseph's in Grand Junction. He was assigned to St. Michael's in Delta effective July 1.
Previously Cedaredge had confession as part of a special event. Fr. Albeiro has established a weekly confession time — Tuesdays at 5 p.m. prior to the 6 p.m. mass. A special event is being planned, a festival to celebrate Three Angel Day on Sept. 29. The public is invited.blog comments powered by Disqus
