The alarm is sounding and a call for help has gone out to all chili chefs in the valley to get their entries and donations ready for the 12th Annual Five Alarm Chili Cook-off.
The Thursday, Oct. 3, inaugural event to Cedaredge's 35th AppleFest is a big fundraiser for the community's friends and loved ones who staff the Cedaredge Volunteer Fire Department. Money raised by the event will be used to buy "structural personal protection equipment."
There are no entry fees for chefs with enough "pride in their hides" who want to try for a best-in-category trophy.
But even if your favorite chili recipe still needs a little tweaking and isn't quite ready for the big dance, bring a pot full anyway. The event needs all the chili the valley is able to make for the crowds of people who love their chiliw, who love their fire department, and who look forward every year for this chance to give their support.
Chili chefs are asked to bring their chili donations, and their contest entry dishes, to the Cedaredge Fire House in their own heating units. Delivery is set to take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 3.
Judging of entered dishes will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Serving to the public will commence at 5 p.m. and continue to 8 p.m.
This annual event is sponsored by the "Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce to benefit Delta County Fire Protection District #3, serving the Surface Creek valley and the Cedaredge Volunteer Fire Department," according to organizers.blog comments powered by Disqus
