Robert Yant is no longer the police chief for Cedaredge.
The Town Board will be given two resolutions on the chief position to consider at its Oct. 17 meeting.
Yant was "terminated" at 4 p.m. last Thursday, Oct. 10, stated an email from the town administrator. Two hours later, at 6 p.m., the town board went into an 11-minute-long executive session to discuss a "personnel matter."
Following the executive session, Town Administrator Katie Sickles announced that two resolutions would be presented to the town board for consideration at its Thursday, Oct. 17, regular meeting. They will be "resolutions for police chief or interim police chief," Sickles said.
It was on Friday, Oct. 11, that Sickles issued the email stating that she had "terminated" Yant's employment with the town. He was hired on March 1, 2010, Sickles said.
Yant had been on "administrative leave" since Oct. 3, Sickles told the DCI. The administrative leave of duty was prompted by Yant's written notice to the town that he intended to leave his position on March 28.
Sergeant Dan Sanders has been handling department duties of police chief since Oct. 3.blog comments powered by Disqus
