The two top runners for the Hotchkiss cross country teams finished second at Saturday's Battle Mountain Husky Invitational cross country meet.
Natalie Anderson placed second with a time of 22 minutes, 2 seconds.
Greta Van Calcar, a top 4A runner from Palisade, set a new women's course record of 20 minutes, 53 seconds for the win. Bulldog Mae Anderson squeezed in ahead of Taylor Polson of Paonia, placing eighth with a time of 23:37. Sophia Schelle came in 14th out of 90 finishers, and Katy Parsons finished mid pack with a time of 26:44. Senior Jennifer Celis did not compete this week.
Hotchkiss finished fifth overall with 145 points, and one point behind Aspen (144). Greeley West was third with 130 points, Columbine placed second, and Battle Mountain won the meet with 39 points.
In a field of mostly 4A and 5A runners, Andrew Tiedeman pulled off an impressive second-place finish with a time of 19:02. Palisade's Jacob Erickson won the meet with a time of 18:42. Ty Clock finished in 20:41 to place 19th. Will Drbohlav finished the course in 24:32, and freshman Zack Allen finished in 26:04.
This was the team's first time to run at Battle Mountain.
The Bulldogs will run this Saturday at Eagle Valley. Natalie Anderson is the current women's record holder after winning the meet in 2012 with a time of 19:27.3.blog comments powered by Disqus
